Up North

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Hej.

Hope you´ve had a good christmas! Right now I´m sitting in a house outside of Boden. Boden is one of the most northern cities in Sweden and this time of year, the sun is barely visible a few hours a day. If you follow this longitude around earth you will find sunny resorts;-) such as Maniitsooq (Greenland), Fairbanks (Alaska), Vopnafjördur (Iceland) to name a few… If you travel for an hour further up north by car you will cross the arctic circle were the sun never really rises above the horizon this time of the year. Do I have to mention that it’s pretty cold and snowy?

The alibi tommy

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Hello folks! Right now I’m sitting in my apartment in front of my computer trying to bring you guys some interesting thoughts… Well, I’m kind of tired, a lot to do at school, buying christmas presents, and so on.. Tomorrow we’ll be playing two songs on a Swedish radio station, Mix Megapol Radio City 107,3. For Swedish friends: Det ska bli jätteskoj och vi kommer spela runt kl 17! This is the second time we play there, the first time around was in May. Last time we gave the host Tommy some alibi tom t-shirts. Judging by the photo above, it suits him very well!! We will also try to do some filming tomorrow-I’ve got a really good digital camera:) so I think it will be a nice little video. I’m really proud of that camera.

Hopefully we can present it to you later on our website or on Myspace.
Tada! /Erik

(OBS! Att man önskat en låt innebär ej att den garanterat kommer att spelas, däremot går 50 kr oavkortat till Radiohjälpen till förmån för folk på flykt…)

Ha en fin dag!

BOHÈME

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Last night Markus, me and our beloved ones went to the opera house to see Puccini’s “Bohéme”. I had planned to be there 20 minutes before it started, but of course it ended up with me walking into the hall just as the music started. Stressed and ashamed I started penetrating to my seat. I got more and more stressed every second that went by as I made the effort to get through in the row of seats. When I was almost there only one obsticle remained: a sitting elderly couple who didn’t seem to eager to stand up and let me through, so emediately I decided to take a giant step over their legs. Of course it ended up with me tramping on the lady´s foot…embarrasing!! She accepted my apoligize later in the pause though. :-)

Anyway, the opera was very good, at least according to me who is not a very accustomed opera visiter. But I have actually seen bohéme once before, and that was when Markus had a minor part in it. It was back in the days when he was a member of Gothenburg´s boys’ choir together with Timo Räisänen among others… (I was also a Gothenburg boy’s choir member for a while, but I didn’t get as glorious singing jobs as Markus and Timo)

Well, well. Guess it’s time to clean up the mess in our apartment.

Have a good day!

LPG / Alibi Tom @ Fängelset

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

First of all: Sorry for the extreme delay between the gig and the blog :-/…

Fängelset, which means “the prison”, is a venue situated in the eastern parts of Gothenburg. As the name implies, the venue is an old jail rebuild into an “all activities facility” for people under 20, which of course is a really good thing. We played together with LPG and a band called “sweetheart the drunk”, who actually suffered a massive shortage of band members that week, still showing up doing a descent support gig. Respect. LPG did a great show as usual, although their drummer manage to break his kick pedal in the first song. well, well. They just said: -this is how we’re doing it in Holland, and then they started all over with the song again as if nothing happened :-).

It was really nice to gig at Fangelset again. We played there a few years ago together with “Oholics”. That time without Erik, since he was really ill. That was maybe one of our worst gigs ever, but this time we really enjoyed ourselves. It was a great feeling seeing people in the audience singing along in our tunes, thanks!

Most of us was extremely tired after the gig on the 29th of Oct in Halmstad and luckily we had a very nice day off in between the gigs (which some of us spend working after only 2 hours of sleep!). Lpg did a classic mistake that night though. They left their van in a parking garage and when they got there by midnight, the garage was closed. They had to take a cab from down town Gothenburg to Kungälv (Martins apartment) in order to be able to get home at all that night.

Before the gig at Fangelset I took LPG around town to show them some good record stores (yes kids, some of us actually BUY records these days…) and a nice Indonesian restaurant. After at least an hour at Bengan’s -Gothenburgs finest record store, me, Ilana and LPG left the store with a huge pile of records.

Giving LPG and Ilana the city tour.

Take care!

/Markus

ps. Thanks to Martein from LPG and our webmaster Anders for the pics!

Debut album in stores now
