The 29th of october

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

…was a comprehensive day. First of all I reached the respectable age of 25! Kristin had taken a day of to celebrate me, which she managed to do very well indeed. After we had eaten breakfast while I was speaking in the phone I heard some kind of singing outside. I went to the window to see what it was, and this was what I saw…

… a ceremonious male-voice choir consisted of our dutch friends in LPG (who had arrived to Sweden the same morning with their manager Ilana) together with Markus, Joel W and Martin where singing the lovely tunes of a birthday song. I felt like some kind of royalty…

Later on at night when we were in Halmstad to play at a Halloween party we had to deal with several sound problems. It appeard that the PA system was useless, so instead of doing the regular sound check me, Erik and the sound engineer Gustav (who decided to do the sound for us for free just a couple of hours earlier as it had turned out that the other guy who was in charge of everything had got ill. It was a real dues ex machine…) went to Falkenberg, a city close by, to borrow a PA from Gustav’s music store. In the meantime Markus and Joel W helped LPG doing a line check. We came back in time, but we didn’t manage to do any sound check. Instead Gustav did a “sound check” in our first songs. Anyway, we had a really good time on stage, one of my personal favorites, even if it felt pretty weird to play before a bunch of whitches, vampires, and clowns dancing crazily on the dance floor…

It took more time than usual to get home after the gig as we had to go back with the PA system to Falkenberg. It felt pretty strange to get home when Kristin was eating breakfast…

Fängelset in Gothenburg on Friday!

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Two days ago we performed at Huset Magstraede in Copenhagen together with two nice bands. Housewife lovers and The Elephants. The Elephants used an instrument live that I´ve only heard on records; the theremin!! Theremin is an old electronic instrument that generates sad whisteling sounds. You play it by moving your hands up and down and from side to side in some kind of transmission field between two antennas. I´m not going to be more technical than that, since I really cant explain it better… Anyway, the theremin was often used in sci-fi movies from the 50s and 60s to make those spacy sounds.

This week we will play together with LPG in Sweden and It´s going to be great :-)! On Wednesday (29 Oct) we will play at the University of Halmstad and on Saturday (1 Nov) at Chalmers, Gothenburg. On Friday (31 Oct) we will also play at Fängelset in Gothenburg and it´s an “all ages”-gig, so bring your little brothers and sisters! You can buy your tickets on Ticnet here:

Gothenburg!

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

The Journey back home went pretty well. We managed to get up 4.30 and an hour later we rolled out from Ridderkerk. Now we have a few days off before we’ll perform next time, which will be this Friday (24th) on “Nordic Nights” at Huset Magstraede in Copenhagen, Denmark. That will be our first gig in Denmark and we are really looking forward to it! Hopefully Erik will get his amp fixed before that, since it broke down in Oxford the other night.

Fry up

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

As I didn’t have time to write a comment after the fry up last day I thought I could just share a photo from the delicious breakfast. Unfortunately you can’t see much of the plates on the picture, but I think the face expressions speaks for themselves… After having tried it yesterday I actually ordered it again today on the ferry…

On our way home to Sweden!

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

This morning we got up after 2,5 hours of sleep in order to be on time for the ferry in Harwich. The gig last night was a nice one, although Erik’s amp broke down during the sound check so we had to do the gig with only one electric guitar. We played together with the nice band Eider Coats from London- skilled musicians and nice people too! There were suppose to be more bands playing, but they didn’t show up. Weird…

Coffee at Jeroen and Esthers place

Right now we are sitting in Jeroen and Esthers Livingroom in Ridderkerk, Holland. The ferry ride to Hoek van Holland was pleasant. We had some nice fry up breakfast again!

I’m too tired to write anything more now. Good night!

“fry up”

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

In a couple of minutes we will sit around the table enjoying the typical English “fry up”, as Joakim and Sussie thought we can’t go back to Sweden without having tried this delicate breakfast. I will soon give my opinion to you. Now it’s time for me to fill my belly…

BBC Oxford and another good concert review from 3voor12!

Friday, October 17th, 2008

3Voor12 Rotterdam reviewed the gig at Waterfront when we supported Anderson. They seemed to like the gig pretty much!

Check out the link below, if you are into the Dutch lingo i.e….

If you think that the guy in the first picture looks like Joel (with the recorder and crazy glasses), you are probably right.

Yesterday we played at the Prince of Wales in the small village of Steeple Claydon. There was a soccer game on tv and apparently there were other interesting things going on as well (since there was almost no one there :-\). Anyway, there was a small crowd that probably liked our songs since we sold a few records and got to talk to a few of them afterwards.

Earlier the same day we went to BBC Oxford to record two acoustic songs for their weekly show “BBC Introducing” with Tim Bearder. Apart from recording those songs, Susanne of LEON and Joel were interviewed about the music scene in Gothenburg and how LEON found out about us. Great fun. They will play one song on Saturday (18th) and the rest will be broadcasted next week.

This day we (us and the label) spent evaluating the recording sessions and the entire process with “Scrapbook”. We also showed them a few new songs.

What do we kill time with when we’re not giging? Well, Martin is getting really good at all the racing games on Xbox while some of us tries to study…

Cello Guitar

Today (read yesterday, time for the blog post is 00:10 AM) we have had a day off. When there’s nothing to do you can always grab the cello and the guitar and create some music. Markus and I decided to do this and if you would like to see it happened just watch the video above.

As we’ve told you before we’re staying with Joakim and Susanne (LEON, record label) in the beautiful countryside of Poundon! We are going to be here until saturday this week. Then we will head back home to Sweden. I think that’s all for now, got to get some sleep… Tomorrow (read today..) we will do a pre-recording of two acoustic songs at BBC Oxford Radio! After that we will play at the pub “The Prince of Wales” in Steeple Claydon! Just like the other lads in the alibi family I have high hopes about all of this! …

ok, let’s try to end this post in a second try. Good night!
