august update

Monday, September 7th, 2009

It’s been a while since we updated the blog. First of all we would like to thank all of you who came to see us at “Magasinet” and “Bilda tältet” at Frizon, but also all the people who showed up on our gigs at “de Belofte” and “Subyard” at Flevo festival. We got great reviews from flevo, this one for example (in dutch though ;-/): De Belofte review

There are a few people in particular we would like to thank. First of all we’d like to mention Jedidja from Holland who went to see us at Frizon during her vacation in Sweden. We actually got another painting from her (we got one from her during the scrapbook autumn tour in Holland). We would also like to mention Esther who saw us for the first time at Flevo festival and went home and made a video to our song “Botanisten” (who also gave us a bunch of photos).

Thanks a million!

Albert Jan from tennapel photography took some really nice photos at the Subyard gig, (check them out below) thanks! You can look him up on flickr for more photos.

We spend the week after Flevo working on our 2nd week of pre-productions. And we’re happy to announce that we will start record our second album in October! We have played new songs on all our shows in august and have received great reviews as well as good response from audience so we are pretty eager to spend a lot of time in the studio again.

We will do one final show in Gothenburg on the 12th of September at Sticky Fingers before we hit the studio.

Cheers,

Markus, a.t

We stayed the night at LEONs house in the countryside outside oxford. This evening we will play in kettering at the keystone escape club.

Hope to see you there!

cheers,

LPG / Alibi Tom @ Fängelset

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

First of all: Sorry for the extreme delay between the gig and the blog :-/…

Fängelset, which means “the prison”, is a venue situated in the eastern parts of Gothenburg. As the name implies, the venue is an old jail rebuild into an “all activities facility” for people under 20, which of course is a really good thing. We played together with LPG and a band called “sweetheart the drunk”, who actually suffered a massive shortage of band members that week, still showing up doing a descent support gig. Respect. LPG did a great show as usual, although their drummer manage to break his kick pedal in the first song. well, well. They just said: -this is how we’re doing it in Holland, and then they started all over with the song again as if nothing happened :-).

It was really nice to gig at Fangelset again. We played there a few years ago together with “Oholics”. That time without Erik, since he was really ill. That was maybe one of our worst gigs ever, but this time we really enjoyed ourselves. It was a great feeling seeing people in the audience singing along in our tunes, thanks!

Most of us was extremely tired after the gig on the 29th of Oct in Halmstad and luckily we had a very nice day off in between the gigs (which some of us spend working after only 2 hours of sleep!). Lpg did a classic mistake that night though. They left their van in a parking garage and when they got there by midnight, the garage was closed. They had to take a cab from down town Gothenburg to Kungälv (Martins apartment) in order to be able to get home at all that night.

Before the gig at Fangelset I took LPG around town to show them some good record stores (yes kids, some of us actually BUY records these days…) and a nice Indonesian restaurant. After at least an hour at Bengan’s -Gothenburgs finest record store, me, Ilana and LPG left the store with a huge pile of records.

Giving LPG and Ilana the city tour.

Take care!

/Markus

ps. Thanks to Martein from LPG and our webmaster Anders for the pics!

Fängelset in Gothenburg on Friday!

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Two days ago we performed at Huset Magstraede in Copenhagen together with two nice bands. Housewife lovers and The Elephants. The Elephants used an instrument live that I´ve only heard on records; the theremin!! Theremin is an old electronic instrument that generates sad whisteling sounds. You play it by moving your hands up and down and from side to side in some kind of transmission field between two antennas. I´m not going to be more technical than that, since I really cant explain it better… Anyway, the theremin was often used in sci-fi movies from the 50s and 60s to make those spacy sounds.

This week we will play together with LPG in Sweden and It´s going to be great :-)! On Wednesday (29 Oct) we will play at the University of Halmstad and on Saturday (1 Nov) at Chalmers, Gothenburg. On Friday (31 Oct) we will also play at Fängelset in Gothenburg and it´s an “all ages”-gig, so bring your little brothers and sisters! You can buy your tickets on Ticnet here:

Gothenburg!

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

The Journey back home went pretty well. We managed to get up 4.30 and an hour later we rolled out from Ridderkerk. Now we have a few days off before we’ll perform next time, which will be this Friday (24th) on “Nordic Nights” at Huset Magstraede in Copenhagen, Denmark. That will be our first gig in Denmark and we are really looking forward to it! Hopefully Erik will get his amp fixed before that, since it broke down in Oxford the other night.

BBC Oxford and another good concert review from 3voor12!

Friday, October 17th, 2008

3Voor12 Rotterdam reviewed the gig at Waterfront when we supported Anderson. They seemed to like the gig pretty much!

Check out the link below, if you are into the Dutch lingo i.e….

If you think that the guy in the first picture looks like Joel (with the recorder and crazy glasses), you are probably right.

Yesterday we played at the Prince of Wales in the small village of Steeple Claydon. There was a soccer game on tv and apparently there were other interesting things going on as well (since there was almost no one there :-\). Anyway, there was a small crowd that probably liked our songs since we sold a few records and got to talk to a few of them afterwards.

Earlier the same day we went to BBC Oxford to record two acoustic songs for their weekly show “BBC Introducing” with Tim Bearder. Apart from recording those songs, Susanne of LEON and Joel were interviewed about the music scene in Gothenburg and how LEON found out about us. Great fun. They will play one song on Saturday (18th) and the rest will be broadcasted next week.

Joel and Sussie are being interviewed by Tim Bearder

Susanne of Leon and Joel W at BBC Oxford

This day we (us and the label) spent evaluating the recording sessions and the entire process with “Scrapbook”. We also showed them a few new songs.

What do we kill time with when we’re not giging? Well, Martin is getting really good at all the racing games on Xbox while some of us tries to study…

Debut album in stores now
