LPG / Alibi Tom @ Fängelset

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

First of all: Sorry for the extreme delay between the gig and the blog :-/…

Fängelset, which means “the prison”, is a venue situated in the eastern parts of Gothenburg. As the name implies, the venue is an old jail rebuild into an “all activities facility” for people under 20, which of course is a really good thing. We played together with LPG and a band called “sweetheart the drunk”, who actually suffered a massive shortage of band members that week, still showing up doing a descent support gig. Respect. LPG did a great show as usual, although their drummer manage to break his kick pedal in the first song. well, well. They just said: -this is how we’re doing it in Holland, and then they started all over with the song again as if nothing happened :-).

It was really nice to gig at Fangelset again. We played there a few years ago together with “Oholics”. That time without Erik, since he was really ill. That was maybe one of our worst gigs ever, but this time we really enjoyed ourselves. It was a great feeling seeing people in the audience singing along in our tunes, thanks!

Most of us was extremely tired after the gig on the 29th of Oct in Halmstad and luckily we had a very nice day off in between the gigs (which some of us spend working after only 2 hours of sleep!). Lpg did a classic mistake that night though. They left their van in a parking garage and when they got there by midnight, the garage was closed. They had to take a cab from down town Gothenburg to Kungälv (Martins apartment) in order to be able to get home at all that night.

Before the gig at Fangelset I took LPG around town to show them some good record stores (yes kids, some of us actually BUY records these days…) and a nice Indonesian restaurant. After at least an hour at Bengan’s -Gothenburgs finest record store, me, Ilana and LPG left the store with a huge pile of records.

Giving LPG and Ilana the city tour.

Take care!

ps. Thanks to Martein from LPG and our webmaster Anders for the pics!

Last day in the Netherlands

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Last night we performed for the last time in the netherlands together with LPG. Anderson, who we will be the opening up for later this evening at Waterfront, also played with us. We managed to get last night’s performance at speakers on video and we will hopefully be able to put some clips up here in a few days, since we are not able to transfer the film to a computer here in Ridderkerk.

After the gig tonight we will drive all the way to Kettering, England during the night since we’re doing an instore gig at sonic boom tomorrow and a gig at Key Escape club later that evening. Puh, it will be a tough journey, luckely we are equipped with energy drinks.

Forresten…

Ni i sverige far gora er redo for en harlig alibi tom/LPG-invasion i slutet av manaden!

29 okt Halmstad, 31 okt Goteborg (alla aldrar) och 1 nov Goteborg. Mer info finns pa var giglista!

(there is no need to translate the sentences above into english so I will not do that. Simple as that.)

You will probably not hear from us tomorrow, but in the meantime you can always take a look at this great review from swedish website joyzine.se of our debut album. If you know how to read Swedish of course.

Breakfast in Groningen

 Breakfast in Groningen

We spend the night at Anne’s place in Groningen. Anne is one of the guitarists/singers in the Dutch indie act LPG. LPG is a great band! We will tell you more about them later on since we will play two more times together with them during the Holland tour.

The gig yesterday went rather well. It was hard to get going at first but as soon as we played Bullit (3rd number) we took off. As we already told you, my guitar broke. One of the technicians went with me to a local music store called “Bob de Jung”, and when we told the store manager the urgent need for a functional guitar, he said; -oooh, crises management! Then he fixed my guitar in 20 minutes almost without charging me! So if you live in Leeuwerden, buy all you music gear at Bob de Jung :-)!!!

Now we have to rehearse two new songs for tonight since we’re doing a 1,5 hour gig in Dordrecht tonight and we need all the songs we have!

Talk later,

Markus
